How to Apply for Tax-Free Childcare in the UK

Steps to Apply

Visit the GOV.UK Tax-Free Childcare page.
Click on the "Apply now" button to start the application process.
Log in using your Government Gateway user ID and password. If you don’t have one, you can create an account during the process.
Provide your personal details, including your:
- Full name and address.
- National Insurance number.
- Details of your employment or self-employment.
Add details about your child(ren), including their:
- Name and date of birth.
- Disability status (if applicable).
Complete the verification steps to confirm your identity and income.
Submit your application and wait for confirmation. HMRC will notify you about the status of your application, usually within 7 days.

Once your application is approved:

You will receive access to your childcare account.
You can start depositing money into the account. For every £8 you pay in, the government adds £2.
You can use the funds to pay for childcare with a registered provider.
